Numbers 9:15-15:41
Sermon by Nathan Wheeler, Sunday, October 1, 2017. The ancient Israelites continued to doubt the word of the Lord. Instead, they acted willfully against what they knew God wanted of them. Part of God's response was to give them an intriguing new fashion for men's clothing--tassels that would help them remember to obey the Lord. In this sermon, we discover that Christians can learn from the Israelite example to watch out for the deceptive power of labor, fear, boredom, and good intentions.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Sermon preached on October 1, 2017 by Nathan Wheeler. The young believers in Thessalonica were anxious about the fact that some of their fellow believers had died before Jesus returned. In this passage, Paul teaches them how Jesus's resurrection gives us hope for those who have been snatched away by death. 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12
Sermon preached Sunday, September 24, 2017 by Nathan Wheeler. The Christians of Thessalonica were doing a great job of taking care of each others' needs. However, Paul teaches them in this passage that they also need to make sure each of them is taking responsibility for themselves as much as possible. Love does not want to be a burden to others. |
