John Huffmyer encourages us to draw near to God, who draws near to us.
It is easy to miss the fact that our confidence in life might actually be arrogance against God. In this passage, James warns us against the pride of "boasting in our arrogance." Our confidence should be in God rather than in our boldness to assert ourselves as strong and capable of making our dreams come true.
