Romans 10: 14-17
In this famous passage, Paul calls attention to the need for listening to the message Jesus Christ has sent into the world. This calls Christians to be careful to give first priority to listening to the "apostolic" teaching kept for us in the Bible. Many Bible studies written by others can be helpful in some ways. Nothing should take the place of studying the Bible in the form that its teachings have been given to us by God's wisdom.
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus teaches that his disciples are to do their good works in such a way that God receives the glory. This sermon considers how that works when God is the source of his own glory.
Jesus concludes a series of parables about the kingdom of God with a parable about understanding his teaching about the kingdom of God. Those who understand, according to Jesus, are able to bring out new things along with the old things in the collection of Christian wisdom.
